The Menantic Peninsula Association is an inclusive community-based organization supporting the residents in the Menantic Peninsula. The MPA’s mission is to represent the common interests of its homeowners, and to protect its natural environment and resources.

Theresa Andrew

President

Theresa Andrew is an ‘Army Brat’ and lived all over the world before her father retired to the village of Dering Harbor on Shelter Island in 1970. Before becoming a full-time real estate salesperson with Corcoran, Theresa embarked on a 30-year career in the fundraising arena, including working for the American Cancer Society. Married for 38 years with a son, Theresa loves to read, cook, entertain friends, and travel when time outside of her work and community obligations allows. She truly cares about this wonderful place she’s long called home.

Andy Boden

Vice President

Andy Boden has been coming to Shelter Island for years with his family and finally took the plunge to buy a house on Fred’s Lane a few years ago to continue to enjoy the natural beauty and slower paced life that Shelter Island offers. Andy currently runs a building supply business in New York City that was started in 1927 by his wife’s grandfather.  With an MBA from New York University and a degree from Amherst College, Andy loves reading and Black Cat Books, one of the treasures of the island. An avid kayaker and stand-up paddleboarder, Andy spends much of his summer on the water and hikes the trails at Mashomack Preserve with his family.

Sharon Donno

Sharon Donno has been a homeowner at on Montclair Avenue since 1986, and a “weekender” up until 2010 when she moved to SI full time. In addition to the MPA, Sharon’s other activities include volunteering at the S.I. Historical Society, being a member of the Lion’s Club, and she is a Deacon at the S.I. Presbyterian Church.

Anita Greenbaum-Brush

Past President

Anita has been coming to Shelter Island for more than 50 years since her parents bought the property at the end of Simpson Rd. in the Montclair Colony. Now retired from her job as an educator in the Boston area, she and her husband Jonathan spend more and more time on Shelter Island year-round. She loves gardening, kayaking, and just sitting on the porch watching West Neck Creek in all its many aspects.

Elise Horning

Treasurer

Elise began summering here with her Grandmother and Great Aunt in the 1960s when they built their home on Simpson Road. Her dream to own that home became a reality in 2008 when she and her wife, Gail, were able to purchase it. They now split their time between the island and their main residence in Virginia. Elise continues to work in the field of Finance with over 45 years of experience in credit and collections, mainly in the shipping industry. She is currently working for a maritime agency overseeing receivables for Maersk Shipping Line. Elise likes to golf and play tennis, be on the water in their Boston Whaler, and putter in the garden. She is looking forward to contributing to the Board as its new Treasurer

 

Deborah Mintz

Secretary 

Deborah first came to Shelter Island with her parents as a teenager in the 1970s, and has owned and loved the family home on Margaret’s Drive for many years since then. Professionally, Deborah is a lawyer at a large international law firm, specializing in commercial real estate finance, and a member of both New York and Florida bars. In her spare time Deborah is a gardener, walker, swimmer, kayaker, sailor, and nature lover. She also enjoys volunteering at the SI History Center and giving back to her community, both here and in Florida.  Wherever she roams, Deborah’s true north and home will always be Shelter Island, full of old and new friends, family memories and adventures.

Jon Otis

Jon Otis is serving his second-term as MPA Secretary and has been a Menantic Peninsula resident for 30 years. He and his wife Diane Barnes live at 1 Bay Avenue and enjoy their home year-round.

Jon is a Designer and tenured Professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He enjoys kayaking and clamming in West Neck Creek, and sailing, biking, swimming and tennis with many friends throughout Shelter Island.

Sarah Parlow

Sarah holds a deep connection to Shelter Island—it’s where she met her husband and where she has appreciated the island’s natural beauty since her first visit in 2000. A homeowner since 2014, she is honored to be the newest member of the MPA. After more than 20 years as a freelance fashion stylist, Sarah transitioned into sustainability consulting following the completion of her MS in Sustainability Management. She has served on her condominium board and is an active volunteer in her children’s schools and community gardens in New York City.
